Sift together:
1 ¾ cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup sugar

Cut into dry mixture until like a coarse meal:
½ ?cup shortening ?

Blend in:
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
mix well

Roll out on a lightly floured board to a 1/16” thickness

Cut in circles, place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

Press sugar onto cookies using a small bowl or the bottom of a glass.
(or add simple icing after baking for Christmas Cookies)

bake at 400F for 6 to 8 minutes until very lightly browned.
