Brown Eyed Susans
Cream together:
2 sticks of butter / margarine
6 tablespoons ( or 12 tablespoons sugar ?)add and cream
1 teaspoon vanillasift together then add to creamed mixture
2 cup sifted flour
½ teaspoon saltdough will be stiff – unless it is very warm
if so, you will need to chill the dough before cookingroll dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet
press down in center with thumbbake @ 400 for 8 to 10 minutes until very lightly brown on bottom edge
let cool completely before icing
Icing:
Sift together
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons cocoaadd and mix thoroughly
1 tablespoon hot water
1 teaspoon vanillaIcing should be thick and creamy..
add powder sugar to thicken or drops of water to thinFill the thumb impression in the top of the cookie with icing
and top with an almond sliver.
